What Microsoft 365 Copilot is, and what it is not
Separate the licensed Microsoft 365 experience from generic AI expectations before choosing a pilot.
Start with the work environment
Microsoft 365 Copilot works across Microsoft 365 apps and can use organizational context that each signed-in user is already permitted to access. That makes existing identities, permissions, files, meetings, and app habits part of the decision.
It is not a replacement for a data owner, program expert, supervisor, approver, or board decision. Treat every result as a draft or aid whose use depends on the task and risk.
Do not buy a general promise
Name one recurring task, the approved source material, the person who reviews the result, and the measure that would show improvement. A broad goal such as become AI-powered is too vague to evaluate.
Check the current product facts
Licensing, app support, admin controls, discounts, and feature availability change. Verify the current Microsoft service description and nonprofit offer before purchase or rollout.
